The Homelab plan is for home users and students who monitor personal infrastructure — not for professional or business use. If you run a homelab, a home network, self-hosted services, or a learning environment, this plan is for you.

You need to self-certify that you’re using Netdata for non-professional, non-commercial purposes. Examples of what’s NOT eligible: monitoring a company’s infrastructure, providing monitoring services to customers, using Netdata within a business context, or integrating it into a product you sell.

All the features you would ever need for your Homelab including, unlimited metrics, unlimited custom dashboards, all alert notification integrations, ML anomaly detection, and full access to Netdata Cloud. The only restriction is that it’s for non-commercial use under our Fair Usage Policy.

There’s no hard limit on the Homelab plan. Monitor as many Raspberry Pis, VMs, containers, and servers as you want. The plan is governed by our Fair Usage Policy to keep it sustainable.

No. You don’t pay per container. When Netdata runs on a host (or inside a container), it monitors all containers on that host automatically. You pay for agents, not containers.

No. You only pay for the maximum number of concurrently running agents throughout the month, excluding the top 10% of spikes (p90). Nodes that are offline — even if their historical data is still queryable — don’t count.

The Community Free plan gives you up to 5 connected nodes and 1 custom dashboard. The Homelab plan removes those limits — unlimited nodes, unlimited dashboards, and full notification integrations. Both include ML anomaly detection and per-second metrics.

Yes. You can upgrade directly from your Netdata Cloud account. Your existing nodes, dashboards, and configuration carry over — nothing to reinstall or reconfigure.

If your use case becomes professional or commercial, you can upgrade to our Business plan at any time. All your data and configuration migrate seamlessly.

Yes. The Netdata Agent is open source under GPLv3 and always will be. The Homelab plan is for Netdata Cloud — the hosted dashboard, alerting, ML insights, and multi-node management layer. You can always run the agent standalone for free.

Netdata runs on virtually any Linux distribution (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Arch, NixOS, Alpine, and more), plus FreeBSD, macOS, and Windows. It also runs natively in Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.

One command: curl https://get.netdata.cloud/kickstart.sh > /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh && sh /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh. That’s it. Netdata auto-detects your system, installs, and starts collecting metrics immediately.
